Innovative Ingwe rally on fans to stream game online

Football fans that are eager to watch the AFC Leopards versus Kenya Police league match set for this afternoon at the Nyayo National Stadium but cannot make it to the venue need not to worry as the game will be streamed live on www.ingwetv.com, a platform run by Ingwe’s media department. It will cost you just Ksh 200 to watch the game online if you are in Kenya and USD 5 (Ksh 621 in current rates) if you are abroad. Victor Milimu, a member of the Ingwe media team, says the initiative is purely meant for documenting the club’s matches going forward. “The fans that cannot make it to the stadium for one reason or the other should not be disadvantaged. They can now watch the game live at the comfort of wherever they will be,” Milimu tells Mozzart Sport,“We have streamed our games for free over 3 years now on Facebook and YouTube but it is an expensive venture. It cannot be free anymore if we are to improve the quality. We are committed to streaming in good quality to our fans at a small cost that will help the club meet the cost of production at least,” he added. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6973480##The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) recently issued a circular to clubs warning them against streaming of games with no prior approval but Milimu says that has been sorted. “The club has authorization from FKF to stream the game. The FKFPL has no broadcast sponsor and therefore efforts by clubs to attract more eyeballs into the league should not be halted but I agree with the federation, there’s need for control,” “If all FKFPL clubs would have a single platform to air their matches I believe it would be a step in the right direction. This is just a start and I hope it will open the eyes of other clubs and stakeholders,” Milimu says. After the Mashemeji Derby, we (Ingwe Media Department) will analyze areas that need improvement. We are committed to giving football fans a service that is worth paying for.”
