As awkward as it gets: Caicedo begs Brighton to let him join Arsenal

Not a boy out there, from the outskirts of Nairobi to villages around Rio de Janeiro, would reject Arsenal’s six-digit offer. However, we’re pretty sure not every one of them would take social media to ask his contemporary club to let him move to the Emirates. And that’s exactly what 21-year-old Moises Caicedo did last night after Brighton and Hove Albion officially rejected Arsenal’s bid for the midfielder. They just can’t keep their hands off Brighton’s players: Arsenal bid $75 million for Caicedo! In his letter addressed to the Brighton board, Caicedo explained the reasons for doing so…”I am grateful to Mr Bloom [owner and chairman] and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart.”I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream has always been to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.Whichever the club Moises Caicedo ends up ; be it Chelsea or Arsenal , I pray that he blooms ,I hope Brighton understands why Caicedo wants to make the step up. Being the breadwinner of a family of almost 12 on a £3k per week ain’t enough. From grass to grace.I love yo see it. pic.twitter.com/QabzQIUEGA— kemboi (@Cfc_Kemboi) January 28, 2023 “I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton, which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.”The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Moisés Caicedo23 (@moises_caicedo55) Brighton are keen to keep hold of Caicedo, having already lost Leandro Trossard to Arsenal this month. There is always a price that will force a sale, but the Seagulls are thought to want more for the Ecuadorian than the £60m that Arsenal offered.
