Engin Firat to come with a new Assistant Coach for Harambee Stars

The coach will arrive in Nairobi next month to begin his role.Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chief Executive Barry Otieno also confirmed that Firat will be allowed to work with one local assistant.Speaking on a local radio station on Saturday, Otieno said; “He has asked that he comes with an assistant coach. At the same time, we have told him to work with a local coach who will be able to learn from him,” he said.Due to luck of funds, Otieno said they will not be able to meet all needs the coach has asked for.“He wanted us to have a medical person which is an area we have not handled well. For now we may not be able to meet this requirement. The federation believes that he what it takes to take us to AFCON in 2025.”Firat has been given a three year contract to handle Harambee Stars and will be fully in charge in the next FIFA international window in March in which Harambee Stars is set to play three friendly matches. It will be the first time Harambee Stars are playing after a one year absence occasioned by a FIFA ban imposed on the country due to government interference.The country is already out of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to be held in Ivory Coast.
