McKinstry stamps authority in Gor Mahia player transfer business

A lot has been said about alleged cartels who have been driving transfer business behind the scenes at Gor Mahia to the detriment of the club.To their credit, K’Ogalo is embroiled in an endless contractual dispute with mostly foreign players who came, did nothing, but are now demanding huge pay cheques after being axed unceremoniously. To avert this dangerous trend that has already led to the club being handed a transfer ban by FIFA, the record Kenyan champions are taking a different approach to transfer business with head coach Johnathan McKinstry at the center of every move.##NAJAVA_MECA_7041332##”No foreign player will be signed unless approved by the coach, and we will not suggest any players to him for signing,” Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier told Mozzart Sport.McKinstry affirmed this position: “I can’t comment on before, but all I know as for me now everyone who’s arriving is all personally by myself,” he remarked.”These are players I had previous knowledge of or the players I’ve personally or through our scouting system or contacts identified and decided to bring in, and I’m pleased with it,” he said.Hope for FC Talanta players as club is set to receive Ksh.23 million from Communications Authority of KenyaThe former Uganda Cranes coach admits that in his previous postings there were attempts to influence whom he signs, but at K’Ogalo he’s fully in charge.”I’m not new to the continent. My black book of contacts is quite extensive now. Maybe in the past some coaches would come here and it was their first job in Africa and they didn’t have the extensive network that I have, leaving the gap for agents or some people to propose players, it’s not the case now and we’ve managed to identify some very good players.”With just 18 outside players and two goalkeepers, K’Ogalo has one of slimmest squads in the FKFPL, but McKinstry is not planning to have a bloated team of more than 27 players.Inside Kenya Police FC’s tactical overhaul under Francis Baraza”More than that makes it a little bit difficult to keep it competitive.”So far a number of new faces are training with the club ahead of the February/March transfer window expected to open next week. They include Ugandan striker Patrick Kaddu and former Kakamega Homeboyz FC defender Sylvester Owino.
