Juventus can have result crisis, Juventus can be in a financial crisis, Juventus can have points deducted, but Juventus cannot lose to arch rivals Torino. That is just a fact that nobody can deny. The more popular club from the city of Turin is the king of derbies. Torino haven’t won any of the last 17 meetings with their decorated cross-town rivals and the last time they did it on their rival’s stadium was 28 years ago…and that bad record continued tonight, as Juventus was on the losing end twice, but found the strength to come back and score four goals to triumph at the end: Juventus – Torino 4-2. In an interesting game there were more goals than chances, and the football fans were finally enjoying the ‘rain’ of goals, unlike some previous Juventus games, in which a 1-0 score was the most they could hope for. This game was also the first one for Paul Pogba. The French international finally played a competitive game for Juventus since his summer move months ago. In fact, his last appearance happened almost a year ago, in a 4-0 Premier League defeat to rivals Liverpool on 19 April 2022. The first half was interesting, since we saw four goals, but on the other side, the display from both teams was bad. Literally nothing happened between those goals. The Allianz stadium was silent, but then Juan Cuadrado brought the volume up with an equalizer in the 16th minute. He had a help from Torino defender, who deflected the ball enough to trick his keeper Milinkovic-Savic and send the ball into the net. Again nothing happened until the last two minutes and then again chaos. Ilic put a low cross into the box and Sanabria was quicker than Bremer and took a precise shot in the closer corner for another lead. But captain Danilo didn’t allow the guests to go to the locker room with 2-1 and his header in injury time leveled the game. The second half started with a great shot from Vlahović, but the ball hit the post. This time, we saw a couple more chances, but no more Torino goals. The host started to dominate again but didn’t make any mistakes in the defense, and they finally took the lead for the first time when former Torino defender Bremer was left all alone in the penalty area. The Brazilian’s header was unsaved and Juve was leading 3-2. Minutes later it was all over, as Rabiot made it 4-2.
