Wazito FC’s Charles Odera blames poor performance on shortage of Premier League standard players

Charles Odera was roped in last week as the new coach of Wazito FC to help steady their sinking ship, but two games on the job, it appears the tide is still wrecking havoc. Placed only above Vihiga Bullets from bottom, the former moneybags, now domiciled in Muhoroni, sunk deeper on Wednesday when they lost their tenth game of the 2022-23 FKFPL season 1-3 to visiting Kariobangi Sharks. Kariobangi Sharks whip Wazito in MuhoroniPreviously they went down 1-0 to Mathare United, who have now steered clear of the relegation zone, after beating leaders Gor Mahia 2-1 on Wednesday. So what could be ailing Wazito FC?According to Odera, formerly of APS Bomet FC, the team lacks Premier League quality players. “When Wazito moved to Muhoroni, most players they had in Nairobi did not accompany the team, so mostly young players with no Premier League experience were promoted from the youth team to take up the slots.””Premier League is a different level and requires quality players with experience for you to survive. In as much as we’re trying our best with what we have, the reality is we will have to beef up the squad.”##NAJAVA_MECA_7059751##The FKFPL transfer window opened on Monday and clubs are already registering players.”We have identified some players that we’re in the process of recruiting. There’s still a lot to fight for in the league, and so if we get right in the transfer business, I’m sure the second leg will be much better. “With the pressure on the technical bench to deliver, Odera is asking for space to deliver. “We were given this job, and I believe we can do it, all we’re asking for is freedom to do our work without any interference.”Wazito did not register for the Mozzart Bet Cup and will be free this weekend when the league takes a break for the domestic Cup.Their next engagement will be at AFC Leopards next week Wednesday.
