Bulimo reflects on difficult first leg at Wazito

Wazito FC languish in the 17th position on the FKF Premier League table standings , just 6 points adrift of bottom-place Vihiga Bullets. They are in familiar territory as far as last season’s performance is concerned. Going down 3-1 against Kariobangi Sharks and 1-0 against Mathare United in their last two fixtures, utility full-back Clinton Bulimo believes everything is not lost for the sugar belt side. He was in action against Mathare United and rues luck for their loss on the day.‘’We deserved at least a point from the Mathare game but luck was not on our side. There were plenty of chances to take the lead and even equalize but we did not utilise these,’’ says the former Western Stima man.Though missing their recent humiliation at the hands of Kariobangi Sharks in Muhoroni, the diminutive defender knows where the rains started beating his side. It’s all in the pre-season preparations and the wrangles that surrounded promotion and relegation in the top flight at the time.‘’The team had a very long pre-season and in the tournaments we featured in, performed very well. We were all set to go but there was a lot of uncertainty,’’ he reveals.##NAJAVA_MECA_7069166##There were plenty of big names training with the side during the pre-season; from Yema Mwamba, Francis Omondi to Elli Asieche. All of them left, among many others, before the season commenced and new players had to be brought in.Bulimo admits it was like restarting pre-season again.‘’We had to start afresh with new players coming and as you know, this takes time. Almost half had left before the season began but we somehow managed to be ready when the league commenced,’’ he continues. Why Tusker risk missing out on Nyota pairWazito pulled some impressive wins- two, and they’re only- in the first leg; dismissing Vihiga Bullets 3-1 before humbling giants AFC Leopards 2-1 in Muhoroni. This should have spurred some momentum but that didn’t happen.‘’I think motivation after those two matches counted and we should have won more but that was not to be. I admit we haven’t been at our very best in the first leg but with a few tweaks in the team during the transfer window, we can climb up,’’ concludes Bulimo.Wazito open their second leg campaign away to AFC Leopards on March 8th.
