Wellington Ochieng speaks after Gor Mahia’s bus impounding

Former Gor Mahia defender Wellington Ochieng has broken his silence over the ongoing tussle between him and the record league winners that has resulted in the team’s bus being confiscated by auctioneers over money that they owe him.The right-back left K’Ogalo in 2020 after five years with the club and was expected to join an unnamed Zambian club before the deal fell through. He later inked a two-year deal with Tusker, he left the Brewers a year ago.##NAJAVA_MECA_7079889##When he left the current FKF Premier League leaders, the club owed him monies in salary and signing fee arrears, and when the club showed that they were unwilling to settle his dues, he moved to court to have the club compelled to pay him.The matter escalated on Tuesday when auctioneers, armed with a court order, nabbed the team bus. “The bus was taken by auctioneers,” Ochieng told Mozzart Sport. He says when he opted out of Gor Mahia in 2020, the club unsuccessfully tried to have him waive the money that they owed him, and this prompted him to move to court.”I left Gor Mahia in 2020, and in my release letter, they indicated that they did not owe anything, which was not the case because they owed and still owe me a lot of money. I did not sign that letter, and I opted to seek legal redress. In December 2020, the cause was ruled in my favour but having them pay me the money has proved to be a difficult task,” the defender told Mozzart Sport.Confirmed Gor Mahia right-back Wellington Ochieng has left the club. The former Agro Chemicals FC and Muhoroni Youth man joined Gor Mahia in 2016.He is a Sofapaka FC target. pic.twitter.com/zNW0uvOxWn— Ole Teya (@TeyaKevin) October 10, 2020 “They were instructed to pay me, but up to date they have never paid a cent. They owe me KES. 1.75 million and have never reached out on a payment plan, but credit to my lawyer because he never gave up on the mouse and cat games; he followed the legal process until we got execution orders because they did not pay up by the deadline day,” he added. The player adds that there is no bad blood between him and his former employers and that he is only demanding what is rightfully his.”I served Gor Mahia diligently and was always respectful to the club, and the honorable thing they should have done is to pay up what they owe me. Just like those players who have gone to FIFA, I opted to go the legal way, and the court found that my rights had been infringed. They assumed everything from when we filed the case to the end; they never bothered to respond to any of the demand letters, and here we are,” he added.Ochieng is currently unattached as he has been recovering from an injury.FKFPL: Nzoia Sugar to face off with Gor Mahia in Bungoma
