Mwangi hoping second stab at international football with national team will be a success

Nzoia Sugar midfielder Joseph Mwangi is praying that, his wish of representing the country at the international stage will finally come to pass after failing in his first bid.The in-form attacking midfielder, secured his first ever call up to the Harambee Stars team when coach Engin Firat released the provisional squad ahead of the Fifa international week.Kenya, is scheduled to mark return to international matches with a friendly match against Iran set to be played in Tehran in March 29 .##NAJAVA_MECA_7099561##Unbeknown to many, Mwangi was part of the national U17 team that was supposed to play in West Africa in 2014. I was still a student by then. I had big dreams of representing the country in grand stages and I am glad that, I am making some strides. I hope that, I will travel and make my debut in Iran,” he opened.Six years later, Mwangi is living his FKFPL dream at Nzoia Sugar FCMwangi, who made his Kenyan Premier League bow in 2020 said the call up to the Stars team was the perfect reward to the hard work he had put in.The 26-year-old is the leading goal scorer for the sugar milers who have defied the odds to sit fifth on the log with 35 points.“I literally broke sweat for it. I head to the camp a determined player for I have a dream of becoming a regular player in the national team,” he added.Mwangi is a Diploma in Electrical Engineering holder having graduated from the Nyandarua National Polytechnic in 2018.
