Tuchel’s homework: Unite the dressing room, fix the defense and get Mane going again

The first big firing of the season happened in Germany, in Bayern Munich of all places. Looking at the results, there were other clubs who maybe should have done this earlier, from PSG to West Ham, but in fact, the Bavarians are the ones who decided to sack Julian Nagelsmann. From the outside all looked well, as the 10 consecutive Bundesliga champion was perfect in the Champions League and trailed Borussia only one point in Germany, with Der Klassiker coming up this Saturday in Munich. But the sporting duo Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic were there all the time, and didn’t like the dressing room atmosphere and the inconsistent performances, and decided to act now, before it’s too late. So, Thomas Tuchel came in to ‘save’ the season, which means to win the league with more certainty than now, and to do something in the Champions League. But what the German tactician needs to do?Thomas Tuchel already sending Bouna Sarr to the reserves 🤣 pic.twitter.com/qoSpm5rJPe— Bayern & Football (@MunichFanpage) March 28, 2023 First off all, he needs to unite the dressing room. German Bild reported that the players are divided over Nagelsmann’s firing. Players like Neuer, Sane, Gnabry, Musiala and Mane don’t mind the sacking, while Goretzka, Kimmich, Pavard, Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt liked the coach. The experienced Thomas Muller was apparently neutral, even thou he suffered under former coach’s tactical experimentation. So, Tuchel needs to find a way to unite everybody, as the duel with Borussia Dortmund, which may happen to be a key for the title race is just round the corner. The change of coach always shakes up the players, who are now more motivated to show the new boss that they should be a regular starters, and that’s a good thing for Tuchel. It’s so weird to see Tuchel wearing a Bayern jacket! The German tactician will have to apply his defense-first tactics, as Bayern allowed a lot goals this season, even thou they have the best defense in Bundesliga, with only 27 goals allowed. Those goals came from some silly chances, or were the result of a tactical changes from Nagelsmann, who experimented and played with three at the back. Again, good news for Tuchel, as his favorite tactics is 3-4-2-1 and in Bayern, he has players who are suit for that and have the knowledge about the formation. It will be all about ‘fine tuning’, especially with Dortmund game coming up shortly.Reasons for Naglesmann’s sacking revealedTuchel will also try to get Bayern’s biggest signing back on track – Sadio Mane. The Senegalese forward hasn’t been up to his Liverpool standards yet, and the injury to his fibula just before the World Cup didn’t help either. Bild (again) reported that the player angrily confronted Nagelsmann after the 2-0 win over PSG, and his team mates watched in shock as he complained to the coach for playing only eight minutes. Tuchel needs to sort that out successfully, as Bayern hasn’t find the striker capable of replacing Robert Lewandowski, so he needs a couple of forwards to compensate for the hole left by the Pole. He faces the similar situation with Leroy Sane, who is not playing well, and in fact hasn’t properly settled in Bayern since his arrival from Manchester City in 2020. What’s even worse, he is now torn between Germany and England as his wife didn’t like the life in Munich and came back with their kids to UK, so he is constantly between those two countries.’I called Tuchel and said: ‘If you don’t feel like it, hang up’There are other issues, like finding the fight spot for Thomas Muller. The Bayern veteran as deployed either as number 10 or number 9 in Naglesmann’s system, and was also on the bench more times than he liked, so former Chelsea coach will have to find a proper place to one of the team leaders. That also applies to Manuel Neuer, Bayern’s captain who turned 37 years old and is waiting competition from Yan Sommer between the sticks.##NAJAVA_MECA_7138717##
