Kenya Commercial Bank FC held Kakamega Homeboyz FC to a barren draw in a hotly contested FKF Premier League match played at the Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.The match began at a high intensity with KCB forward Francis Kahiro bringing down Brian Eshihanda who writhed in pain as the offender got away with just a verbal warning. It was only the first minute!Homeboyz had started three of their new signings; Felicien Okanda, Hillary Otieno, and Farouk Shikalo but it was Captain Moses Mudavadi with the first real chance in the 8th minute. His attempt at goal, however, found Gabriel Andika very alert in the CKB goal.##NAJAVA_MECA_7137316##In the 15th minute, Musa Masika stood behind a 35-yard free kick and with the aid of a deflection, nearly caught Farouk flat-footed. The former Young Africans keeper arrived just in time to keep the hosts in the game. Recent Harambee Stars call-up Maurice Ojwang was the first in the referee’s book for unnecessary obstruction of Farouk during a KCB corner kick. At the half-hour mark however, it was the hosts on the ascendancy, Michael Karamor weaving past the Bankers defence only to be stopped by Andika before firing.The tasty first-half affair would birth no goals as both teams sent out their reserves for light warm-up during half time. The second half began with Kevin Amwayi rattling Andika twice within the space of ten seconds. The experienced KCB keeper stood his ground to deny Homeboyz an early second-half lead. Firat pleads for patience as Harambee Stars return to actionCoach Patrick Odhiambo then wrung changes, throwing in Enock Agwanda and Chris Masinza for Amwayi and Karamor. Mudavadi would combine with Agwanda in the 58th minute and with both through on goal, the captain’s effort veered just across the face of goal. Barely a minute had lapsed when Francis Kahiro almost struck for the bankers on the opposite end. His point-blank effort missed the target by inches. Farouk had already been well beaten. It was Coach Zedekiah Otieno’s turn to throw in some fresh legs and this he did at the hour mark as John Mwangi replaced Kahiro. Masik would also pave the way for David Owino.Despite spirited efforts by both teams to grab the full set of three points, neither was lucky as the contest ended in a barren square.
