Mathare United CEO reveals reason behind Cheche’s departure

Mathare United Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jacktone Obure says they have no issues after letting experienced defender David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng leave the club.Ochieng left the Slum Boys and joined Kenya Police in the just concluded transfer window.Obure said the experienced defender had given them good service in the short period of time he was at the club – when he led the club to wins against Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.##NAJAVA_MECA_7140416##“Initially, Ochieng was un-attached and was looking to travel abroad,” Obure said. “At that time we had a desperate need to fill a huge gap at the back after Lennox Ogutu had been suspended.We needed someone with his experience who could talk and encourage our players to fight and get out of the relegation zone.”The club CEO added: “Ochieng agreed to help us with an understanding that incase something came up, we would release him without any issues. That is what happened.
