Bandari thrash Ulinzi as KCB, Mathare and Nzoia pick vital wins

Coastal side Bandari FC was the big winner in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) midweek round of fixtures on Wednesday 5 April afternoon as they came out big 5-0 winners over Ulinzi Stars at the Mbaraki Stadium.Coming off a win against Mwatate FC in the Mozzart Bet Cup last weekend, Bandari showed no mercy to the military men as they trailed early through an Umaru Kasumba goal in the 17th minute.And that was not all.Tusker grab late win over AFC to move closer to leaders Gor MahiaRogers Aloro then converted from a corner in the 40th minute before Douglas Mokaya made it 3-0 going into the halftime break.The rampage continued for the home side as Aloro grabbed his second of the day seven minutes after resumption, with Kasumba also getting his brace late on in the 76th minute to wrap up what was a convincing whitewash over the visitors.The win takes Bandari over Ulinzi Stars in the FKFPL standings, with the former in eighth place with 33 points.Talanta vs Mathare.Drama ensued on the opposite end of the table as 16th placed Mathare United staged a memorable comeback to see out Talanta FC 3-2 in a thriller of a game staged at the Police Sacco ground.Talanta got themselves into the driving seat just nine minutes into the fixture through Alex Luganji before former Mathare United man Augustine Kuta added a second nine minutes later to see the visitors take a 2-1 lead at halftime after club’s top scorer Daniel Otieno had halved the deficit in the 28th minute.Sharks sink Bidco at the death as Homeboyz overcome PostaThe second half was all different for Mathare as they came out guns blazing and equalized within four minutes after the break through speedy winger Curtis Wekesa.Douglas Kibet then ensured a win for the home side in the 87th minute to seal a huge 3-2 win for Mathare – that takes them out of the relegation zone and into fourteenth place above their opponents of the day and Nairobi City Stars.KCB vs Nairobi City Stars. Francis Kahiro’s strike with 17 minutes left on the clock gave KCB a sneaky 1-0 victory over Nairobi City Stars in a late FKFPL game played at the Kasarani Annex grounds on Wednesday.The win – KCB’s first in the league since early March- takes them into fourth position on the table with 41 points and one behind second placed Tusker who needed a last gasp winner to see off AFC Leopards.##NAJAVA_MECA_7153451##For City Stars however, their 12th loss of the season moves them back into the relegation places as they find themselves 16th with 20 points – just a single point behind Talanta in 15th.Vihiga Bullets vs Nzoia Sugar.Elsewhere at the Bukhungu stadium, cash-strapped Vihiga Bullets dished out their second walkover of the season as they failed to turn up for their Round 21 FKFPL game against Nzoia Sugar on Wednesday.Vihiga Bullets failed to honour their game against Sofapaka early on into the season and with another game dropped, the home side are walking on a thin line to avoid their third walkover that would mean suspension from the league.The 2-0 for Nzoia therefore takes them to third on the log with 41 points and tied with KCB FC.##EDITORS_CHOICE##
