Galtier: ‘We can’t have so many black and Muslim players in the team’

”Quite honestly, if I explain the real reasons why Christophe and I had a fight – because that’s really the word – Christophe will no longer go into a locker room either in France or in Europe“. This was one of the last statements from former Nice sporting director Julien Fournier about his former employee, Christophe Galtier. After he won the French title with Lille in front of PSG’s nose, Galtier signed for Nice, but soon started the quarrel with Fournier, after which Julien said the sentence quoted at the beginning of this article. And last night it was revealed what he meant. And it’s really serious.Understand PSG have NOT launched an investigation into Christophe Galtier following claims of alleged racism during his time at Nice. Galtier has told PSG he will take legal action against “insulting and defamatory comments” made against him. Disturbing and messy situation. pic.twitter.com/OzpUo8mZ9K— Ben Jacobs (@JacobsBen) April 12, 2023 In a stunning revelation, current PSG coach is accused of racism. Very serious charge, especially in French football, in which black players are dominant. Apart from that, he was also accused of wanting to get rid of Muslim players, again a serious accusations. French RMC Sport and journalist Romain Molina revealed an e-mail, sent by Fournier to INEOS director Dave Brailsford (INEOS owns Nice) in 2021, in which he states all situations (and there were few of them), in which Galtier allegedly wanted to get rid of black and Muslim players. “Christophe Galtier told me that I had to take into account the ‘reality of the city’ and that we couldn’t have so many blacks and Muslims in the team. He said to me ‘Last night, I went to the restaurant and everyone came down on me to say that we have a team of blacks. Our team does not reflect what people want, just as it does not reflect myself.’ There was no sporting argument, but just arguments about religion and skin colour” wrote Forunier to Brailsford. He also wrote that he spoke with Galtier a couple of times about this issue and tried to talk him out of it, but coach was persistent in his statements and often mentioned that Muslim players cannot perform well when they are feasting on Ramadan. PSG president delivers a speech in the dressing room“I organised a meeting with CG on the 31st of March to prepare the outline for the team for the 2022/23 season, and to know which players he didn’t wish to keep for the upcoming season. When I asked him the question, he made me aware of his desire for deep changes to the team, putting forward sporting arguments, but specifying that he wanted to limit as much as possible the number of Muslims in the team, and notably wanted to get rid of Jean-Clair Todibo, Youcef Atal, Hicham Boudaoui, Amine Gouiri, Mario Lemina…” … Bob Ratcliffe was kept up to date on all of the exchanges, oral and written, in real-time and even offered to come and see CG and tell him that he must immediately stop this behaviour, which is contrary to the law and to all of the values which INEOS carries and defends” writes Fournier in an alleged e-mail. 🚨🇹🇷 Burak Yılmaz on Galtier reports: “I read the news today and felt I had to say something — I worked with Galtier and never felt any negative behavior from him because of my religion or nationality.””He’s a fantastic coach as well as a fantastic person.” (IG) pic.twitter.com/6d4zExa0iA— EuroFoot (@eurofootcom) April 12, 2023 For now, such shocking revelation is only taking pace. Only few people/organizations reacted after this story. Forunier himself stated that he is currently in Brazil and that he hasn’t leaked this story, as he has too much respect for Nice, where he worked for many years. The club itself released the statement distancing itself from this, stating that this is between two men no longer working for the club. There are contradictory reports about PSG’s actions, as one says they have started internal investigation, while other says nothing has been investigated. So far, only one player, Burak Yilmaz (a Muslim who played for Galtier in Lille), officially supported his former coach on his social media account. We wait for the others to confirm or deny this incredible accusation. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7172055##
