The Football Kenya Federation Leagues and Competitions Committee is set to re-inspect Bukhungu Stadium to determine its suitability to host league matches.The development comes four days after ugly scenes of hooliganism were reported at the facility when Kakamega Homeboyz clashed with AFC Leopards.##NAJAVA_MECA_7190623##Rowdy fans were filed hurling stones and damaging property at the stadium when chaos erupted and spilled to the stands and beyond.It is believed that a call made by the officials manning the game did not sit well with Leopards fans who reacted in an ugly manner that, ultimately, saw the match abandoned.Some sections of the stadium are still under construction and the move by the committee to visit the facility and determine whether it can host matches going forward is therefore necessary although late.“The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee has ordered for the re-inspection of the Bukhungu Stadium following the crowd trouble experienced during the FKF Premier League match no.222(Kakamega Homeboyz vs AFC Leopards),”“In this regard, the Competitions department, will get in touch with you to plan the said re-inspection in view of ascertaining fan safety in the said stadium during league matches,” read a letter addressed to Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula.Shimanyula pleased with sanctions imposed on Leopards in wake of aborted Ingo derbyMeanwhile, the stadium manager Joseph Bushuru revealed that his office was in the process of quantifying the damages caused by the fans.“Property belonging to the stadium was destroyed.
