Wilson’s brace brushed Toffies aside as Newcastle score four in another win

Before tonight’s game between Everton and Newcastle, home team fans really tried to help their team in their relegation battle and they cheer the team bus. Thousand smoke bombs and flares, were going off before the match, but it didn’t help as on the pitch, the only ‘bombs’ came from the visiting side: Everton – Newcastle 1-4. After scoring six goals against Tottenham, who is in fifth place, it’s no wonder the Magpies managed to score similar number of goals against a relegation strugglers Everton. But unlike in the Spurs match, Newcastle needed more time to score the winning goals, as the second one didn’t come until the 74th minute. With this win, Eddie Howe’s boys remain in the third place, ahead of Manchester United, who has a game in hand.12 – Callum Wilson is now Newcastle’s outright top Premier League goalscorer this season with 12 goals (Miguel Almirón, 11); only in 2018-19 for Bournemouth (14) has Wilson ever netted more in a single campaign in the top-flight. Impressing. pic.twitter.com/hHPHrZkOR2— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) April 27, 2023 The only real surprise in Newcastle’s starting 11 was Callum Wilson instead of Alexander Isak. The Swede has been a revelation since coming to England and has scored seven goals in his last seven appearances, including a double against Tottenham, and his total so far has been 10 goals in 15 Premier League appearances. But Wilson is not so bad himself, especially against Everton. Newcastle’s attacker has scored six goals in his last five Premier League games against Everton, only netting more often against West Ham (12) in the competition. And he got two more goals tonight. How it started vs how it finished #nufc#eddiehowesblackandwhitearmy @NUFC @brunoog97 @alanshearer @CallumWilson pic.twitter.com/GjtjgZWS4L— Shelley Leonard (@Shell15) April 27, 2023 Joelington made a great run on the left and his strong shot was saved by Pickford, but Wilson was quicker than Everton defenders and picked up the rebound and scored his first goal of the night. Everton parried Newcastle quite well before the goal and even had some chances, but it was a series of shots near the post or above the bar. Calvert-Lewin scored near the end of the half, but the goals was nullified due to an offside.Bruno deu assistência para o GOLAÇO de Callum Wilson, terceiro dos 4 marcados pelo Newcastle em cima do Everton.Domina no campo de defesa, arranca e acha lindo passe para conclusão maravilhosa do atacante.⭐️pic.twitter.com/BmfKJ1nqjq— Vincenzo Dalicani (@Vincenzo_dali) April 27, 2023 The downfall actually happened in the second half. It started with a mega chance by Willock, (Tarkowski cleared off the line), and then Iwobi finally tested Pope, before Pickford saved Willock’s shot. But then it was over when Joelinton headed the ball to the net, totally unmarked. Three minutes later, Wilson scored a brace, a fantastic volley from the edge of the penalty area, and first fans started to leave Goodison Park. They failed to see a consolation goal by McNeil, but it was followed by another Newcastle score. It was a fantastic Isak mini role, as the Swede mixed up the half of Everton defense before assisting Murphy for the final 4-1.PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 33TuesdayWolverhampton – Crystal Palace 1-0 (1-0)/Andersen 3 (og)/Aston Villa – Fulham 1-0 (1-0)/Mings 21/Leeds – Leicester 1-1 (0-0)/Sinisterra 20 – Vardy 80/WednesdayNott.
