Anthony Kimani was axed on Monday from his role as Bandari FC head coach after what has largely been an underwhelming campaign for the Mombasa-based club. The former Kenyan international joined Bandari in February 2021, initially as an assistant coach, and a year later he took over as interim coach when Casa Mbungo exited. Before the start of the current campaign, he was handed the role permanently.##NAJAVA_MECA_7220357##The soft-spoken tactician had cheated on rumored sackings a couple of times, but Sunday’s 3-0 thrashing by AFC Leopards in the Mozzart Bet Cup quarterfinals meant his position at the club was untenable.Twahir Muhiddin has since been handed the role until the end of the season as the club seeks a permanent coach for the 2023–24 season going forward. Here we take a look at some of the local coaches who can succeed Kimani.Salim BabuHis work at Nzoia Sugar speaks for itself. Despite the financial challenges that the Bungoma-based side is facing, he has managed to put up a fight all season and remain in contention for the league title. His team is five points off leaders Gor Mahia and have a realistic chance of winning their first title in over 20 years. This season’s performance is a sharp contrast to the Nzoia Sugar which was battling relegation last season before they acquired the former Kisumu All-Stars, Sony Sugar, and Western Stima coach. He is a good option for the Dockers.I think Salim Babu is the only coach in the top flight who oversees warm up sessions which ordinarily are handled by assistant coaches and trainers. When you spot a notebook and a pen in his hands during the warm up, just know that the opponent will suffer. He won the FA Cup title in 2019 with the team and played in the CAF Confederation Cup before exiting in the second round. There were rumours linking the tactician with a return to the club last season, and he could still be an option for the glory-hungry Mombasa-based side.Bandari part ways with Bernard MwalalaTechnical director Twahir Muhiddin to take over on interim basis.📷 @BandariOfficial pic.twitter.com/AR6U2vdoMc— #KothBiro (@RealPinchez) January 13, 2020 Francis KimanziThe former national team coach has been out of employment for close to a year now and remains one of the most experienced tacticians in the country.Kimanzi is one of the best coaches in the country, and he may just be what the biggest-funded team in the country needs to end their quest for glory.Francis kimanzi has resigned as harambee stars head coach. #ShujaaWangu#MashujaaDay pic.twitter.com/DJUp52zkRr— OTIENO ONYANGO (@_jahom) October 20, 2020 Sammy ‘Pamzo’ OmoloOmolo is currently unattached after leaving Kenya Police FC earlier this season.Other than Robert Matano, he’s the only other local coach to have won a league title in the last decade; he achieved that with Tusker FC in 2011.His stints at Posta Rangers and Kenya Police have been less successful, but his experience could come in handy for the Dockers.Francis Baraza is the new Kenya Police FC head coach, he takes over from Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omolo.Baraza joins Police after parting ways with Kagera Sugar FC of Tanzania.
