Goals by Stephane Aziz and Bernard Morrison helped Yanga edge visiting Marumo Gallants 2-0 in a first leg CAF Confederation Cup game played at Uwanja Wa Taifa in Dar Es Salaam on Wednesday 10th May.The first half was largely off-color with both teams struggling to play on the wet surface. Marumo thought they had opened the scoring on 38 minutes but Ranga Chivaviro’s goal was ruled out for offside. Yanga could have opened the scoring two minutes after the restart, Burkinabe striker Stephane Aziz danced through the Yanga defense but his lobbed shot made easy pickings for Maruma Gallants keeper Washington Arubi. Ranga Chivaviro seemed to have left his scoring boots in South Africa as he yet again missed a good goal-scoring opportunity on 55 minutes, placing his shot wide. Marumo were made to pay for their misses as Burkinabe forward Stephane Aziz Ki opened the scoring for Yanga via a powerful shot from inside the box after Tuisila Kisinda did the spade work and set him up beautifully.
