African and Bosnian players refuse to play under LGBT colours

Fight against homophobia is ongoing in France football, but there are still turbulences. For the fourth year in a row, League 1 organizes a series of actions which help fight homophobia, but there are always players who are refusing to wear shirts with rainbow-coloured numbers or captain’s armbands. Last season it was PSG’s Idrissa Gueye, this time around, there are several other players. In fact, Toulouse is risking naming only 20 players for their game with Nantes today since no less than five players refused to play if they are to wear the rainbow colour shit.Gueye has the total support of all Africans over homosexuality issues, claims Mane’s advisorLast season, Idrissa Gueye, presumably due to his religious beliefs, refused to wear the PSG shirt with LGBT colours. In some Islamic countries, such as his native Senegal, homosexuality is a crime. In a move not related to this ‘incident’, he went to Everton, but other players are doing the same this year. Per various reports, five Toulouse players will not play against Nantes today unless they are somehow persuaded. The news was first reported by La Depeche du Midi when they spotted that coach Philippe Montanier called 25 players for the game with Nantes, even thou only 20 are allowed to be on the bench or in the team. Then it was revealed that those players were Zakaria Aboukhlal, Moussa Diarra, Fares Chaibi, Logan Costa and Said Hamulic, with Aboukhlal and Hamulic outright refusing to wear the shirts. So far, nobody confirmed or denied anything. Guingamp defender Donatien Gomis in Ligue 2 did the same this weekend, and his action was confirmed. “Donatien Gomis has expressed his choice not to wear this jersey. We have taken note of it’ said Fred Le Grand, the Ligue 2 side’s president. Last season many players, some of them from the Premier League, supported Gueye for his decision, and Sadio Mane’s advisor even called him a ‘hero’. We’ll see if the Toulouse players get any support from their colleagues this time around.LIGUE 1 – MATCHDAY 35Friday Lens – Reims 2-1 (1-1)/Frankowski 40(p), Fofana 55 – Balogun 23 (p)/Saturday Strasbourg – Nice 2-0 (1-0)/Diallo 1, 59/PSG – Ajaccio 5-0 (2-0)/Ruiz 22, Hakimi 33, Mbappe 47, 54, Youssouf 73 (og) )Sunday 14.00: (4.30) Clermont (3.60) Olympique Lyon (1.89)16.00: (1.94) Montpellier (3.60) Lorient (4.50)16.00: (2.30) Brest (3.35) Auxerre (3.50)16.00: (1.29) Rennes (6.50) Troyes (10.5)16.00: (2.24) Toulouse (3.50) Nantes (3.45)18.05: (2.80) Monaco (3.45) Lille (2.50)21.45: (1.24) Olympique Marseille (7.75) Angers (16.0)***odds are subject to change***
