Todd Snyder X FootJoy 2021 Golf Collection targets the modern man of style

FootJoy this week will announce a footwear and apparel collaboration with menswear designer Todd Snyder.

Snyder has worked for major brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Gap Inc., J. Crew and more. His eponymous brand, Todd Snyder, launched its first menswear collection in 2011 at major retailers and has inspired fashion-forward menswear since.

Snyder has put together a capsule collection of polos, windbreakers, cardigans, shorts, joggers, caps and golf shoes with a modern twist to complement classic FootJoy style. Built upon FootJoy’s 164-year history with performance, quality and innovation, the new line debuts Thursday.

Snyder grew up across the street from the Ballard Golf & Country Club in Huxley, Iowa, where he frequently would sneak onto the course after hours to get in some practice. With expertise in style for the modern gentleman in high-end apparel, transitioning into the golf fashion world was not a big jump for Snyder. The designer saw golf as an avenue to spend time with family and friends, and the emotion of nostalgia can be seen through his capsule.

“When I was little, I caddied for my dad and my grandpa,” Snyder said. “I never had golf shoes until I was big enough to wear my dad’s, and he wore FootJoy. So, I associate them with family time and comfort. I still remember how comfortable my dad’s shoes were.”

The FootJoy X Todd Snyder Premiere Series Shoe utilizes lightweight materials and proprietary VersaTrax+ traction technology. The shoe has a leather, waterproof ChromoSkin and ortholite footbed with a molded heel cup using ECO plush-foam technology for maximum comfort. The shoe is available in two colorways: white pebble grain with either a navy or olive quarter.

Inspired by the vintage style of golf icons from the ’60s, Snyder created a sleeveless cardigan. The cardigan has a soft cotton-cashmere blend and allows for an effortless swing without restriction.

“I was looking in the FootJoy archives at pictures of Arnold Palmer and Chi-Chi Rodriguez, and recognized this moment before performance fabrics took over when players had this effortless cool aesthetic that felt very relevant to right now,” Snyder said. “We are excited to collaborate with FootJoy on a wardrobe inspired by that golden era of golf, but for today’s well-dressed man who wants to maintain his unique personal style when he hits the golf course.”
