Exclusive: Mwatate United part ways with the entire coaching staff

Mark Otieno Asa and National Super League (NSL) side Mwatate United have agreed to mutually part ways after close to nine years, according to sources at the club.The timing of the move is however curious, and comes three weeks after the club sealed a one-year sponsorship deal with Teita Estate Limited worth Kes 3 million with an option to extend for a further year determined by Mwatate United performance.Otieno was promoted to the head coach position at the start of the current 2022/2023 season after working as an assistant coach under Bobic Odoa(2018), Alvin Opondo (2019), Benedict Wanjala (2021) and Andrew Kanuli (2022).

Otieno began his tenure with the club as a player in 2014/2015 season playing in FKF division one league before being promoted to clubs’ kit man in 2017 upon his retirement.As per the club’s team Manager Omar Mbaraka, Otieno and his technical bench were shown the door after dismal performance losing four NSL matches in a row.However, a source at the club that seek to remain anonymous, told Mozzart Sport that trouble has been brewing at the Mwatate based club and on various occasions the technical bench expressed dissatisfaction with insufficient support they received within the club.##NAJAVA_MECA_7277163##This decision concludes Otieno’s tenure as a head Coach.
