Ten players snubbed by Harambee Stars coach Firat

On Monday, Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat named his provisional squad for the Four Nations Tournament, scheduled to be held in Mauritius from June 11th to June 18th, 2023.Four players received their maiden call ups to the national team. The four are; Simon Masaka of Sofapaka Kevin Luke Otiala, who skippers Kariobangi Sharks; Charles Ouma of the Kenya Police; and Kakamega Homeboyz hitman Moses Shummah.##NAJAVA_MECA_7284409##There were players who were surprisingly left out of the squad, and we take a look at players who will feel hard done by their omission.1. Dennis Ng’ang’a (Gor Mahia) His transition from left-back to central defence has been seamless; alongside Omala, he has arguably been Gor Mahia’s most important player this campaign. His team has conceded 18 goals this season; only KCB (17) has had a tighter backline. He will probably feel that he deserved a chance especially seeing defenders whose clubs have shipped in more goals this season in the squad.Harambee Stars provisional squad for upcoming friendly tournament in Mauritius. Duke Abuya (Kenya Police)He has been one of the best attacking midfielders in the country and one of the few with double digits in the assists’ chart in the league this season. He has been part of the setup in recent years, and he will probably feel that based on his performance in the league this season, he should have made the cut.3. Kevin Juma (Nzoia Sugar FC) Harambee Stars Provisional Squad for Mauritius Four Nations Tournament namedHe is arguably one of the best defensive midfielders in the country. Nzoia has had one of the best defences in the league this season, largely due to the screening that the back four gets from Juma, who made his national team debut under coach Jacob Mulee. He has also been key in starting Nzoia Sugar’s attack from deep.4. Tyson Otieno (Kariobangi Sharks) Working with coach William Muluya has seen Otieno explode, he has been better in the final third this campaign, adding goals and assists to his name. He has been one of the standout attacking midfielders and probably deserved an opportunity in the team.Tyson Otieno is an entertainer#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/Ri60077isT— Ole Teya (@TeyaKevin) April 9, 2023 5. Johnstone Omurwa ( CF Estrela da Amadora, Portugal)The central defender has been a starter for the Portuguese second-tier side all season. Their season concluded over the weekend, and he is one of the players for the present and the future, his omission definitely raises eyebrows.6. Eric Johana (Muang Thong, Thailand)The player is just back from a busy season in Thailand. In March, he was left out of the national team due to injury but recovered from it and was a key player for his team in the just concluded season. His quality and experience would have definitely been invaluable for the team.7. Elvis Rupia (Kenya Police FC)He is second in the scorers’ chart with 22 FKF Premier League goals. He will feel hard done by seeing a striker with two league goals summoned ahead of him.8. Musa Oundo (AFC Leopards)In what has been a rather dull season for the Leopards, Oundo has been one of the positives in the middle of the park; he is easily among the top five defensive midfielders in the country and probably deserved a chance to impress in the national colors for the first time ever.Musa Oundo had a fantastic game in the middle of the park against Gor Mahia. Ben Stanley Omondi (Sofapaka)The youngster has been one of the standout attacking midfielders in the league in his maiden top-flight campaign. He has assists and goals to his name, and he is probably one that should have been handed a chance as he is definitely in the picture for Kenyan football’s future.10. Kelvin Etemesi (Nairobi City Stars): The youngster has scored nine second-leg goals; not even league top scorer Benson Omala has achieved that. He bagged another brace against the Leopards on Monday as his profile continues to rise. If we are planning for the future, then he is one of the attacking options at our disposal.AFC Leopards vs Nairobi City Stars goals.Kelvin Etemesi has the attributes of a special player.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/iOwDPCZ0C1— Ole Teya (@TeyaKevin) May 30, 2023 AFC Leopards youngster goes AWOL
