NSL: Silibwet Leons crippled following mass player and coaches exodus

National Super League (NSL) club Silibwet Leons has been dealt a blow after losing key players and the entire coaching bench .The club, lost star players in a period of three months among them captain Brian Ochieng who moved to Mara Sugar, forward Austin Odour ,Erick Kipkemoi currently with regional league side Lion FC . Frank Mandela, also ditched the club.The move comes at a time Silibwet Leons are struggling financially and are unable to keep up with ever raising wage bills together with players demands.A source at the club revealed to Mozzart Sport that the situation was getting out of hand with only15 players remaining in Camp. “Things are not good, all our dependable players have left and more are on the way. We are not sure if we will have a team to compete next season.” ##NAJAVA_MECA_7292322##Frank Mandela, one of the players to have left the Bomet based club noted that getting essential needs became problematic and players at times had to for nights without food.”Getting basic needs in camp was a problem, at times we lacked food and players had to get side hustles in Bomet town to survive,” he regretted.Div one: Andrew “Rix” Kanuli confirmed as New Balaji Epz Head CoachAlso decamping the team earlier on was head coach Joseph Ongoro who was not satisfied with how the management handled players welfare . Since his departure, his replacement is yet to be announced.The team, that has managed only two wins from the last 26 National Super League matches.They are scheduled to host Mombasa Elite on Friday with 15 players available for the match .Meanwhile, the training sessions are under team manager Erick Rono assisted by defender Normal Dei and Ugandan right back Remy Moss.Efforts to reach out to Rono to clarify on the real situation of the struggling club were futile as calls and texts went unanswered.
