Referee Anthony Taylor and his family were attacked by angry Roma fans as he looked to board a flight from Budapest in the aftermath of the UEFA Europa League final. The Englishman attracted negative attention as the Italian giants were unhappy with Taylor’s performance having given out 14 yellow cards in total.Clearly still angry at the outcome of the match, just like Roma boss Jose Mourinho did at the stadium (more about that a bit further down), fans gathered at the airport in Budapest to see him off.Embarassing Roma fans abusing Anthony Taylor who is with family on his way at the airport.Disgusting. You can see his daughter in tears and drinks being thrown at his wife too.pic.twitter.com/ljTwo239dB— Saturnion 🙂 (@saturnion13) June 1, 2023 Supporters shouted abuse at the 44-year-old as he and family members were was quickly ushered through a door by police into a more secure area.In a statement, refereeing organisation the PGMOL said:”PGMOL is aware of videos circulating on social media showing Anthony Taylor and his family being harassed and abused at Budapest Airport.”We are appalled at the unjustified and abhorrent abuse directed at Anthony and his family as he tries to make his way home from refereeing the UEFA Europa League final.”We will continue to provide our full support to Anthony and his family.”Mixed feelings about this. That’s because the bald sod Anthony Taylor deserves every bit of it (plus some more) but his family doesn’t. https://t.co/yYqGjbbo33— Kunal Wadhwa (@KunalWasThere) June 2, 2023 It wasn’t just the Roma fans who were unhappy though, with Mourinho also tearing into him post-match.The Portuguese boss waited for Taylor by the Roma team bus at the Puskas Arena and launched into an x-rated rant.”F****** disgrace man, it’s a f****** disgrace,” Mourinho fumed, before switching to swear at the official in Italian. “F*** off,” he continued.Mourinho then approached the official’s bus and added: “Congratulations, you f****** disgrace.”Behold, It’s Anthony Taylor ! pic.twitter.com/tdqjJz60F9— MourinhoXtra™ (@Mourinho_Xtra) June 2, 2023 Explaining his frustration in his post-match press conference, Mou said:”Next year we won’t be playing the Champions League and that’s a good thing because we’re not made for it.”And let’s hope that Taylor only officiates games in the Champions League and does the same bull**** there that he did tonight, and not in the Europa League.”Jose Mourinho waited outside to call Anthony Taylor a ‘f*cking crook’ 😳 pic.twitter.com/0BrQfTZL9x— GOAL (@goal) June 1, 2023 He continued: “It was an intense, vibrant game with a referee who seemed Spanish.”It was yellow, yellow, yellow all the time.”The injustice is shown by the fact Lamela should’ve had a second yellow, he didn’t, and he converted a penalty in the shootout.”##NAJAVA_MECA_7298553##
