After losing the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title race to Gor Mahia, Tusker head coach Robert Matano is calling on his players to forget about the events of last weekend and focus on the Mozzart Bet Cup final.Tusker surrendered the league title to Gor after finished second in the concluded season just a point behind K’Ogalo who were crowned last Sunday at Kasarani Stadium.##NAJAVA_MECA_7342276##The brewers were hoping to win their final fixture against Vihiga Bullets and pray that Gor will fall to Nairobi City Stars.However, that did not happen as Gor came from a goal down to thump City Stars to wrestle the gong from the hands of Tusker who, beat Bullets 4-0 at the Mumias Sports Complex.Matano, who was bidding to win his third league title with Tusker is asking his charges to redeem themselves in the Cup final set for this Saturday at Kasarani Stadium.Tusker are set to face Kakamega Homeboyz in the final with Ulinzi Stars playing AFC Leopards in the third-place playoff.“There is nothing we can do or say on the league title. We have to focus on the Mozzart Bet Cup final. We have one more chance to redeem ourselves,” he said while reacting to the twists and turns witnessed in the final day of the FKF PL season.Despite losing the crown to Gor, the experience tactician reserved praises to his players for putting in a spirited fight throughout the season.“I laud my players for the efforts put in. We finished the season on a high note and that’s football,” he stated.The FKFPL Season in Retrospect: Reflecting on the concluded FKFPL seasonWhen pressed to reveal where the team slowed in the dash to secure the silverware, Matano pointed at the unwanted results the team registered against Wazito and Posta Rangers in round 32 and 33 respectively.Tusker fell 2-1 to Wazito and were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw by Posta in the penultimate round.Had the beer makers beaten Rangers, they would have leapfrogged Gor and probably bagged the title.
