Newly crowned Mozzart Bet Cup winners Kakamega Homeboyz have started squad overhaul in preparation for the new season and CAF Confederation cup competitions with the club letting go of five players. Goalkeeper Steve Otieno, left back Hillary Wandera, right back Dennis Sikhayi, striker Michael Karamor and winger Micheal Isabwa are the first batch of the players to be offloaded from the team with more outgoing expected ahead of preseason. Michael Karamor joined Abana Abeingo from the now defunct Western Stima and played in almost all of Kakamega Homeboyz’s first leg matches scoring six times with one coming in Mozzart Bet Cup. With the coming of Enock Agwanda and the rise of Moses Shumah the striker saw his game time limited in during the second phase of 2022/2023 FKF Premier League season. Murang’a Seal axe six players ahead of new seasonRight back Dennis Sikhayi endured a rough time at the club since Patrick Odhiambo took over the mandate of the team from then head coach John Baraza featuring less than five times the whole season and had no goal contributions, a similar situation to goalkeeper Steve Otieno who show his playing time reduced following the arrival of Farouk Shikalo and emerging of Ibrahim Wanzala. His stay with Bullets , however,did not go to plan as he suffered an injury ending his season prematurely. Impeccable sources indicate that the club is set to continue with its mass clear out with at least 10 players to be shown the door ,some will be deployed on loan to other clubs to further their developmentThe Kakamega outfit are expected to bring in new faces with the club assembling a team ready to compete at the continental stage with Alex Imbusia already signing on three years contract from Sofapaka FC and Ugandan striker Davies Kasirye also primed to join the club.
