Pamzo unhappy with Harambee Stars’ coach comments on Kenya’s world cup qualification chances

Former Kenyan international Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo is unhappy with Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat’s “no guarantee” comment over the team’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.Probed on whether the Stars can make the cut following last week’s draw in Ivory Coast, Firat gave a defeatist response to the Daily Nation, evoking the ire of a section of fans.##NAJAVA_MECA_7377835##Kenya is in Group F of the qualifiers alongside favorites Ivory Coast, Gabon, Gambia, Burundi, and Seychelles.”We are not favorites, as some people are trying to say, but our aim is to make history. We will try our best, but there is no guarantee. We will just do our best even if our chances are not so high,” Firat said.Conversely, The Gambia’s opposite equal, Tom Saintfiet, projected better positivity, drawing Pamzo’s approval. “Nothing is easy, but I believe it’s possible to write more history with the Scorpions,” the Belgian said.”According to him (Engin Firat), he thinks we cannot go anywhere,” a disappointed Pamzo told Mozzart Sport.”Tom’s sentiments build confidence not only in the country but amongst players, whom you can be sure will give their 100%,” the former Harambee Stars defender added.Pamzo called for quality friendlies for the Stars before the matches commence in November. “We need to play teams above us in ranking, most preferably West African opposition.”Equally, Pamzo is of the view that only quality players should be given a call-up to the national team: “This is top-level football, and you cannot gamble with players who cannot stand the heat.”For success to be realized, the former Police FC assistant coach noted that money will be a huge factor in ensuring smooth logistical arrangements. “The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) must source money to fund the qualifiers, which is an expensive adventure,” Pamzo noted.Nine teams from the nine groups will automatically qualify for the World Cup, while the four best finishers will go into a continental qualifier for a chance to bag a 10th slot against teams from the rest of the world.Bidco United sign former Kenya Police attacker Mwaura alongside promising Asiago
