Former AFC Leopards chairman Dan Mule has revealed plans to form a team in Machakos that he says will grace the FKF Premier League in the near future.Mule, now an employee of Machakos County, says he remains keen on football talent development and wants to see a team from the county grace the top league soon. At the moment, MCF, which plays in the National Super League (NSL), is the biggest team from Machakos.##NAJAVA_MECA_7390514##Speaking during an interview at the Machakos County Governor’s office, Mule said plans to build a team are at an advanced stage and that he believes that it will play a big role in exposing talents from the region.”We are starting an academy that will help nurture talents here in Machakos, but the ultimate goal is to have a Premier League team from Machakos County, and we already have everything in place to achieve that. It may be a county team or one owned by an individual, but in the coming years we must have a team from this county that will give our players a chance to play at the top level,” he said.He added that the time frame to achieve the goal is around five years.”The target is to have a team in the FKF Premier League in the next five years. That’s the plan we have, and I think with the experience I have in football management and with the supportive team that I have, we will achieve that target.”Mule understands the importance of having proper facilities as a catalyst for talent development. At the moment, the Machakos County Stadium is the only facility that can hold matches in the county, and they say they have to do more.”We first need to have infrastructure, stadiums, training grounds, and other important structures because if we do not get it right in infrastructure, then we are not going to make any important strides in the county,” he added. On Tuesday, FKF and the Machakos County government inked a partnership that will see a Technical Centre built in Machakos. The KES 600 million facility will be fully funded by FIFA.Silibwet Leons embark on nationwide search for talents
