The pre-season brings a lot of matches with resounding opponents and the one that happened in the Japanese capital today is probably the biggest so far, where the reigning champions of Europe Manchester City faced their manager’s former club Bayern Munich. The scoreboard after the final whistle showed 2-1 in the favour of the English team and the goals for the Premier League rulers came from two unexpected sources.##NAJAVA_MECA_7390062##Aymeric Laporte gave Manchester City a 2-1 friendly victory while James McAtee handed his team a first-half lead. The Cityzens dominated after a raft of halftime changes, only for France Under-19 striker Mathys Tel to capitalise upon an error from Ederson to equalise in the 81st minute. In the 21st minute, City emerged from that spell of Bayern pressure to take the lead. Walker sent a fine pass though to Lewis, who darted into space left by a napping Laimer. Upamecano did his best to give away a penalty but the City teenager stays upright, found out Alvarez who took a shot which and Sommer saved. However, the rebound spun towards goal and McAtee shook the net of the German champions.Good run from Rico Lewis. Kratzig took the ball down the left and sent in a good low cross. Ederson fumbled Wanner’s initial attempt and France Under-19 striker Tel reacted properly to dispatch the rebound. The tied score did not last long. Perrone sent a cute pass to Foden from a short corner, the England attacker drove towards goal, Ulreich stopped it but the ball looped up nicely for Laporte to volley home. The late drama, sparked by Tel’s equaliser elevated a fairly listless second half. The first period of the encounter at the National Olympic Stadium, was much more dynamic. Both these teams are back in action over the weekend, as City make a relatively short trip to South Korea to take on Atletico Madrid. The Bavarians will face Kawasaki Frontale of the J.League.
