National Super League (NSL) side Migori Youth FC have revealed plan to keep combat the entire squad that did duty in the 2022/2023.Migori were 180 minutes away from gracing Football Kenya Federation Premier League but a three-nil defeat against Wazito at Muhoroni Stadium cut short their desire.In an interview with Mozzart sport, Migori assistant coach Sammy Owano, who has been with the club since its promotion to the second tier, indicated that the team will not be releasing players in the ongoing registration window despite a host of clubs showing interest in their talents##NAJAVA_MECA_32762##”We are not going to give out players easily, the plan is to retain this squad and fight again next season,” said Owano.The experienced gaffer however, noted that it is going to be an uphill task to hold the club’s breakthrough talents as some top-flight entities have a big purchasing power which may lure players away”As a club we hope to have them here next season though in the current market in Kenya we have some teams that are capable of getting whoever they want and I fear if they come for some of our players we will have little to do in that scenario,” he addedMigori’s stance on transfers is attributed to most top-flight football team’s tendency of not honouring players contracts as soon as they get them from the lower tier leagues and end up vending frustrations on themDennis Oliech tips Okumu to make meteoric rise after move to France”We are willing to part ways with our players but there is no need of sending a player to a place where he is going to suffer and later dent his development ,we have few cases with us here who signed very lucrative deals only to turn out it was a hogwash ,as a team we are not ready to walk that route again,” offered Owano who was one of the founder members of Migori following a merger with now Division Two side KRA IsibaniaKericho Rovers set to acquire Muhoroni Young’s slot in merger dealSome of the players to have emerged from the club include; goal poacher Clinton Okoth, who came from the clubs’ youth ranks to put pen on paper with 20 times Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia and Lucky Musyoki, who early this year terminated his contract with 2009 champions Sofapaka FC.It remains to be seen how the club will handle offers from various clubs with custodian Victor Khamungo, teen sensation Kevin Hagai and midfield maestro Yusuf Ochieng already receiving offers from Premier League sides.Migori Youth will resume pre-season on August 6.
