It had never happened before and it showed that we were doing something.”##NAJAVA_MECA_7395946##Pressed on why KCB were never really title contenders, the former Gor Mahia defender said: “Winning the league is a process. First of all, you have to make your team attractive to quality players. It is the only way you can compete with the best in the market. If you cannot do it, it means you have to work twice as hard.”“We were in the process of developing our players and then we try and win the league unfortunately it did not work. In retrospect, I believe we did our best with what we had. My first season at KCB was interrupted by covid so it was wasted. Come the following season we finished second. The third season we finished seventh but it was nullified.” TWIST: Gad Mathews to stay at Gor Mahia“Then last season, we managed fifth position tying on points with Kenya Police and Nzoia and we collected the highest number of points ever for the team. This was despite the fact that we had to let go of six of our best players and were forced to start rebuilding. So I believe we did a good job overall.”Zico is among the tacticians rumoured to be eyeing the vacant Ulinzi Stars job.
