MEMPHIS, TN. — Sam Burns pulled off the rare slam-dunk hole-in-one during the third round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship Saturday morning in Memphis.
On the par-3 No. 12, the Shreveport, Louisiana, native lifted his tee shot over the water hazard and a small bunker, hitting nothing but cup from 157 yards out. It is Burns’ second ace of the season. His only other hole-in-one on the PGA Tour came at the U.S. Open.
Burns’ ace is the first of the weekend in Memphis. He came into the day 3 over.
Burns’ dunkaroo wasn’t the only impressive shot of the early-round action Saturday. Beau Hossler’s 127-yard hole-out eagle on No. 1 wasn’t a bad way for the Californian to start his day. Hossler was 2-under through two rounds.
