Bandari FC goalkeeping coach Jerim Onyango was among 17 Goalkeeping Instructors who completed their eight-day CAF Goalkeeping Elite Instructors Course that ran between 2-9 December 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa.In addition to the recently concluded CAF Doping Control Officers workshop, CAF conducted the first-ever instructors course, one spearheaded by the CAF Development Division.Among the instructors present were Alejandro Heredia, as well as former African football legends, Thomas Nkono and Joseph-Antoine Bell.The goals for the course, one suited to re-shape and develop the game of football on the continent in line with CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s bold vision of making African football globally competitive, was to produce CAF-accredited instructors who will be spread across the continent in conducting CAF approved Goalkeeping Courses to produce elite goalkeepers in Africa.Jerim Onyango off to South Africa for CAF Elite Instructors Course“The CAF Coaching convention was launched in 2019 where CAF created a pyramid of coaching education. In this pyramid, we have coaches, goalkeeping coaches, fitness, beach soccer, and futsal,” CAF Development Division Director Raul Chipenda told CAF Online on Wednesday.“Goalkeeping has advanced at an incredible pace and has even become a specialty within football.
