Mara set to conclude search for a new coach

Mara Sugar FC Sporting Director, Boniface Ambani, has revealed that the club will announce their new coach before the National Super League (NSL) resumes in January. The NSL is on a break until January 6, 2024, and during this period, Ambani and the club administrators plan to fill the vacant coaching position.##NAJAVA_MECA_7750287##The vacancy arose after Vincent Nyaberi decided to leave for MCF, just three weeks after joining the club. He took over from Francis Xavier, who left to assume an assistant coach role at Sofapaka. However, Xavier only lasted for a month at Batoto ba Mungu before departing. In an interview with Mozzart Sport, Ambani shared that the objective is to have a new coach in place before the league resumes, as Mara is scheduled to host Luanda Villa in the opening clash of 2024 at the Awendo Green Stadium on January 6.“We are in the process of securing a substantive coach, and I believe we will finalize the process during the holiday break so that by the time the league resumes in January, we will have a new head coach in place,” he stated. The former international emphasized the importance of selecting the right person for the job after losing two coaches to other clubs in the first leg. “We are taking our time; we want to ensure that we get it right. We have to find the right person for the job, and so we are being meticulous in the process,” he added.Ambani reiterated that the primary goal is to achieve promotion to the top league by the end of the campaign. Currently, Mara Sugar is in fourth position with 27 points, trailing five points behind leaders Naivas FC.“The goal remains to earn promotion, and that is why we have to get a coach who aligns with our team’s ambitions. We also aim to retain our best players to achieve this dream,” he concluded.Shabana FC tactician signals team’s revival after commanding win over Sofapaka
