Joao Felix is in danger of becoming the synonym for a rich failure. When he went from Benfica to Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a whopping 127 million euros (market value was 70 million), it was believed that Cholo Simeone’s team got their leader for years to come. He was even given Griezmann’s number 7 shirt, but in 2023, his first unsuccessful loan was made, to Chelsea. After a disappointing episode in London, his time was already up with Simeone and another loan was made in June, this time to Barcelona. But the latest reports are suggesting another comeback to Madrid, where he is not wanted is on the cards. His current market value is 40 million and even the Saudi clubs would think twice before giving Atletico that kind of money. He’s still on good terms with Atleti players, but not Simeone: Joao Felix feels relief after killing his old clubHis start at Camp Nou was a bright one, as he scored some goals, like against his Atletico or against Porto in the Champions League, but he soon sunk into the mediocrity. He is now being labelled as ‘generational talent with mentality problems’ and Spanish SPORT reports that Felix is struggling to shake his reputation as an inconsistent player. Instead of him, Xavi is increasingly in favor of Ferran Torres and Raphinha and subbed Felix in the Cup against lower league club Basbastro (3-2). He was not good, his goal was disallowed due to an offside, he caused the corner from which the hosts scored their first goal, lost the ball 15 times and denied Torres the chance to take a free-kick. 🚨🚨| Xavi does not want to sign João Felix for the 2024/25 season. Barcelona registered Felix on a salary of just 344,440 pounds in June 2023 in order to register him, with the club struggling financially. LaLiga president Javier Tebas confirmed that they had ‘multiplied the remuneration agreed between Joao and FCB by 10, for Fair Play purposes’. That means he would now be earning £3,444,400 per year at the club where he is on loan. So, having a playing with that kind of wage, who is just a squad player in a team which struggles to find a real form is not a good thing for coach Xavi. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7788978##
