Tusker FC assistant captain Michael Kibwage has expressed his disappointment following Tusker’s 1-0 loss to Gor Mahia on Saturday.Austin Odhiambo’s first-half volley from a free-kick set piece was the sole difference as Gor Mahia carried the day in a closely contested match at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.##NAJAVA_MECA_7812372##The defeat on Saturday meant Gor Mahia opened up a ten-point gap at the summit, while Tusker fell 12 points shy of Gor Mahia. The outcome brought an end to the Robert Matano-coached side’s five-match winning streak.Kibwage joined the 13-time FKF Premier League champions midway through the last campaign on a one-year deal. A fortnight ago, the experienced defender extended his stay with Tusker until the end of the season. The former Sofapaka defender attributed their loss to failing to capitalize on their goal-scoring opportunities in front of the goal.”It was a painful defeat because we had prepared well and largely dominated the match. I feel we have ourselves to blame because we did not use our chances while Gor Mahia made good use of the one opportunity that made the whole difference,” stated Kibwage. The ex-AFC Leopards player admitted to being let down by not closing in on Gor Mahia, saying the extended point lead by K’Ogalo will prove to be a mountainous task, but remained optimistic about putting in a good fight.”It was really a big letdown because we had hoped to narrow the gap with Gor Mahia. Our attention now shifts to fighting our way up the log. We are in the second leg, and every match counts,” added the soft-spoken defender. The central defender further voiced his thoughts on Tusker’s title chances, saying that despite the comfortable lead Gor Mahia enjoys, he’s confident of Tusker causing an upset.”The league is far from done until the final day. For us, the focus now is going all out, handling each as a final, and ensuring we collect maximum points,” he concluded.Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe moves to Azerbaijan
