Shabana duo to seek legal redress over unfair dismissal

Earlier this week, Mozzart Sport reported that Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Shabana FC had parted ways with more than seven players who were deemed surplus to requirements by the technical bench. Among them were defenders Hillary Wandera and Silas Abungana who had been missing in action since November. In the report, it was noted that among the players released from the club, two were nursing injuries that the club had declined to take care of despite hurting themselves while pulling the carts for the Glamour Boys. The duo of Wandera and Abungana have since decided to take a legal stand as per local football reverend Kevin Teya and independently verified by Mozzart Sport after the club terminated their contracts while still recovering from the knocks suffered while turning for them.Shabana part ways with seven players ahead of the second legWandera, a seasoned left-back with a football journey that includes stints with Nzoia Sugar FC, Tusker FC, and KCB FC, has enlisted the services of Ochutsi Munyendo and Company Advocates to demand KES 390,000 in notice pay, citing unfair dismissal, and advocates’ fees.Wandera alleges discrimination by the club during his recovery, pointing out that he was denied the privileges granted to other players. On his side, Abungana who has also taken the same route through the same law firm (Ochutsi Munyendo and Company Advocates) is seeking the club compelled to pay KES 754,000 encompassing notice pay, compensation for unfair dismissal, and advocates’ fees.Shabana have an ultimatum of seven days to settle scores with their former players before the matter proceeds to court.FKF Div. I was told that I am no longer needed here, but they have not released me. They are declining to hand me my release letter, and I do not think this is how a club I have served diligently for the past three years should be treating me.””I was injured at the Raila Odinga Stadium and was driven to Kisii in an ambulance. Since then, no one has been bothered by how I’m faring.”Abungana and Wandera ordeals were confirmed by a top official at the club who sought anonymity for fear of victimization suggesting that more were happening under the carpet that threatens Tore Bobe’s survival in the top tier. The official further said that the conduct of the club’s Chief Executive Officer is wanting as he has failed to put the house in order and is the source of the unending epicures at the team.“Two players were injured and all attempts to get attention from the club were ignored, whenever they reached out to the CEO, he would issue threats of dropping them from the team instead of finding a solution to their cries,” stated the source.##NAJAVA_MECA_7828825##However, in a statement released by Shabana on Friday evening, the club emphasized their commitment to professionalism and fairness in handling player matters.
