City Stars midfielder Omachi longing for club’s second appearance after overcoming injury

Nairobi City Stars attacking midfielder Pius Omachi is eager to make his first appearance of the season after recovering from a potentially career-threatening injury.Omachi missed the better part of the 2022-2023 season due to a knee injury that saw him go under the knife in April last year to repair his knee anterior cruciate ligament as well as the meniscus.##NAJAVA_MECA_7828296##The midfielder wasn’t involved in the earlier stages of the season, as he had not received a clean bill of health from the medical team. His long wait for his return to the competitive level ended two weeks ago when he was included in the matchday squad for their clash against Posta Rangers.Boost for Nairobi City Stars as Omachi nears full recoveryOmachi was also drafted into the team during their away clash with AFC Leopards played last weekend at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.Although he didn’t get minutes in both matches, Omachi is glad to be fully fit and is offering competition for playing time. The youngster said he was working his socks off in a bid to convince coach Nicholas Muyoti that he was ripe for his second league appearance since joining the City Stars.Omachi made his league bow in February last year against Gor Mahia at Kasarani Stadium, coming off the bench in the second half.”The past year or so has been difficult for me as I was battling a knee injury. I am glad to be fit again and get my name into the matchday squad. The next challenge is securing consistent playing time. It is a shame that injuries have seen me play a single match since I joined City Stars,” he told Mozzart Sport.Omachi joined Simba Wa Nairobi in 2022 from Vapour Sports alongside another midfielder, Newton Ochieng. Ronney Kola leaves Nairobi City Stars after three and half seasonsBoth players played for Dagoretti High School before joining Vapor. While Ochieng has been featuring for City Stars on a regular basis, Omachi had a start of life at the club to forget due to a recurring knee injury that he believes was fully solved by the surgery and rehabilitation he underwent.”I want to believe that the difficult days are behind me. My aim is to repay the team for the faith and support they invested in me even when I was injured,” he added.
