Petit blasts Pochettino and names his successor – a very familiar name

Here we go again. After a few months Chelsea are on the front pages of the British press. In fact, it’s a two horse race between Manchester United (Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority stake and various scandals with players like Rashford) and Chelsea, who are now in a terrible form and Mauricio Pochettino is on the hot seat, just like Graham Potter was before him. The Argentinian has two wins more than Potter after 31 games in charge, but that doesn’t mean much as the fans and the president expected much more. And former Chelsea player Emmanuel Petit thinks that the team has no identity and blames the coach for it.Chelsea’s downfall – the epitome of Americans not understanding footballPetit, who played for the Blues from 2001 until 2004, thinks that Pochettino doesn’t know what’s he doing. “I was so disappointed with Chelsea’s performance against Wolves. They looked so disorganised, were tactically a mess, no fighting spirit, communication, or character. I felt pity on the Chelsea fans. I was thinking, why would you put Nkunku up front as a lone striker? Does he even know what Nkunku does best? In Germany and France it is well known that he cannot play by himself up front and never has done that. He is very good in the 10 or in a two up front, but he can’t do that role at all. Pochettino refuses to mold his tactic around his players and the composition of the team just doesn’t make sense at the moment. He doesn’t have a clue what he wants to do, and his body language is not good at all, he looks like he is on the way out already”  said the Frenchman.Safe – for nowAnd then, just as you read this analysis and think that this man is talking some clever stuff, Petit suggests that Jose Mourinho would be a good choice for the club! The Portuguese has already managed Chelsea twice and has gone down as a club legend for his work in his first spell at the club, a stay that saw him win two league titles, two League Cups and one FA Cup. His wife and kids still live in the area, but his second spell at Chelsea resulted with a sack and that trend continued with every other club he managed since: Manchester United, Tottenham and Roma. But, Petit obviously doesn’t see a problem with that. “I’ve seen the speculation that Mourinho could come in with John Terry as his assistant. When you think about it, it could be something interesting. He would give the team character and personality. At the moment they are a broken team and he could be the man to come in and fix it. I actually think they need a manager who will have a proper vision of what needs to be done with the players that are there. They have to stop buying players and looking at how they can develop what they have there already. Chelsea need to develop an identity, because at the moment they don’t have one” he said. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7855541##
