Alves testifies for the rape charge, sentence expected soon

After a year since he was prisoned in Spain, Brazilian footballer Dani Alves is finally being trialed for alleged rape. The former Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain defender testified in a three day trial and denied that he forced the victim to sex, saying that everything was ‘consensual’. The alleged sexual assault took place at a popular Barcelona nightclub overnight December 30-31 2022. At the time he was arrested, he denied any sexual contact with the victim, and then changed his testimony, admitting to sexual relations that he said were consensual. The reason for this, according to Alves, was the fact that he was trying to save his marriage and didn’t want his wife to found out about his infidelity. She never told me to stop. We were both enjoying ourselves” Alves said. 🇧🇷 Dani Alves gave evidence at his trial yesterday:The former Barcelona right-back faces 9 to 12 years in prison, a €150,000 fine and 10 years of supervised release for sexual assault. ⚖️🗣️ “I started dancing with the complainant.
