Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clubs have received the first batch of grants from the broadcast deal signed by the national broadcaster.The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) late last year signed a seven-year deal with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to become the broadcast partner of the local league.Odhiambo determined to surpass his father’s legacy after joining Mathare UnitedThe deal which covers both television and radio is worth slightly more than Ksh 210 million per year.At the beginning of February, KBC wired the first batch of the broadcast money worth Ksh120 million.From the money, each club taking part in the FKFPL was given Ksh 3 million.According to Bandari vice-chairman Twaha Mbarak, clubs also received another Ksh 2 million from another broadcast deal signed with Azam.“So far we have received Sh,5million from the broadcast deal and this is money that will make a huge difference to the clubs.A lot of clubs have been struggling and the cash injection could not have come at a better time,” he said.##NAJAVA_MECA_7862624##While speaking during the launch of the sponsorship deal, FKF chairperson Nick Mwendwa said each team will get Ksh 10 million annually from the deal.”The winner of the league will earn Ksh 5 million to the winner and Ksh 11 million will be shared on a league standing basis, downwards from number two to number eighteen,” he said then.Cabinet Secretary for Sports Ababu Namwamba who is the architect of the deal said it was a big win for local clubs and promised to have a similar one for clubs taking part in other leagues.The deal by KCB and Azam could not have come at a better time after the federation lost an earlier broadcast deal by Star Times.Done DealAzam TV will broadcast the FKF Premier League from the 2023-24 season.KBC will get a select FTA games.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/gGrzBUWWJk— Ole Teya (@TeyaKevin) June 20, 2023
