Haaland ends his jinx in a win over Brentford

Since coming to the Premier League, Erling Haaland played against 21 league teams and scored at least one goal against 20 of them. Brentford has been out of reach for the Norwegian striker but not anymore. In a tough match in which Manchester City was expected to win easily against out of form Brentford, it was Haaland‘s strike which was enough for another three points and a win. With 56 points, the Citizens are now very much back in the title race and occupy the second place, one point less than Liverpool and one point more then Arsenal: Manchester City – Brentford 1-0.Erling Haaland has now scored against every single team he’s faced in the Premier League:⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ vs. Man Utd⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ vs. Fulham⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽ vs. West Ham⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽ vs. Everton⚽️⚽️⚽⚽️ vs. Wolves⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ vs. Nottingham Forest⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ vs. Crystal Palace⚽️⚽️⚽️ vs. Brighton…— Squawka Live (@Squawka_Live) February 20, 2024 Brentford came to Etihad stadium being the last team to win against City at their ground, and they’ve won three of the last four meetings, although were comfortably beaten at home earlier this month thanks to a Phil Foden hat-trick. The reason why the Bees are in such tricky situation are the vast number of injuries. And yet, they could have bothered the current champions more only if Onyeka was more concentrated. There are not many chances you can create against City, but when you do, you better use them. And yet the Nigerian had two good chances and squandered them both. Haaland didn‘t have any until the 71st minute, but when he did got the ball, he used the fact that Ajer slipped in the decisive moment and scored the winner. The first half ended without any goals, which was kind of surprising, considering the number of good chances. The Bees actually had the first of the match, when they made a counter attack and Nigerian Onyeka faced Ederson alone, but aware of Walker running in from the right shot straight at the Brazilian keeper. Then it was time for City to score, and their chances were even better, but in the 34th minute, Silva somehow managed to miss the goal from six meteres. Akanji then tried from 30 meters but Flekken saved it before Bobb‘s shot was stopped at the goal line by Ben Mee. The Nigerian striker had his second chance in the first half, this time his shot was much harder and better, but still not enough for Ederson.Everybody expected even better second half, but until Haaland‘s goal, both team had no shots on target. It was expected that the guests will open a bit afterwards, but they failed even to make a single shot on target. Instead, Haaland scored another goal which was nullified due to offside, while Foden made Flekken stretch out in order to save his goal.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUETuesdayMan.City – Brentford 1-0 (0-0)/Haaland 71/Wednesday 22.30: (1.20) Liverpool (7.25) Luton (12.0)***odds are subject to change***
