CECAFA boss reassures that region will be ready to host CHAN and AFCON

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and CECAFA president Wallace Karia have exuded confidence that the East African region will be ready for the 2024 African Nations Championship scheduled for September and the 2027 African Cup of Nations that will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.Three African nations were granted the rights to host the biannual showpiece last year, and preparations are underway to ensure that the region, for the first time ever, gets to host Africa’s premier international football competition.##NAJAVA_MECA_7899458##Asked whether he believes the three nations will be ready to host CHAN, a calm Karia, fresh from chairing the non-elective General Assembly in Mombasa, Kenya, said the only missing link before the tournament commences are training pitches, which he is adamant will be ready on time.“We already have four ready pitches, and that means we are going to host CHAN. The remaining task is that of training pitches, for which we still have sufficient time to ensure that they are in place,” he told CECAFA Media.Mozzart Bet Cup: Police, Posta clash highlights Saturday Round of 32 actionWhen asked about AFCON’s preparations, Karia elaborated that Tanzania already has two stadiums that meet the required standards. Uganda has completed the renovations at Nambole Stadium, while Kenya is renovating Moi Kasarani Stadium, and is set to commence the construction of Talanta Stadium.“For AFCON, we need two stadia per nation, and being a joint bid, we will need one more extra pitch. As Tanzania, we already have two ready stadia. Construction is also underway in Arusha and Dodoma.Kenya is building Talanta Stadium, while Uganda has completed the Namboole Stadium and is going to build another one as well, so we are on track,” he added.CHAN will be a big test of the region’s preparedness, and the three nations will be hoping to successfully host the tournament to avert any risks of losing the rights.CS Ababu Namwamba has repeatedly made it clear that Kenya and its host partners will be ready for the tournament.”We are excited to be co-hosting with our brother and sister nations of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. We have assured CAF that we will certainly be ready by 2027, doing everything necessary, including refurbishing stadiums, preparing new venues, and ensuring the region is ready,” he stated after meeting Véron Mosengo-Omba, the General Secretary of CAF earlier this week in Mombasa.CAF CL; Simba, Al Ahly edge closer to quarters as Petro progress to last eight
