Blue and White pomp as AFC Leopards commemorates 60 years in existence

FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards, on the day they officially turned sixty, began their series of events expected to culminate on 24 March by visiting the home of their founding father Israel Mutoka in Shauri Moyo Estate, Nairobi.The club began activities in the morning, with the main team, the Ingwe ladies team and the junior team visiting different Children’s homes to participate in CSR activities.The first group led by Ingwe at 60 chairman Vincent Shimoli visited Wamo Childcare together with the main team while club Patron Alexander Muteshi led the Ingwe team in visiting the Shangilia Mtoto wa Africa Children’s home in Kitusuru.The third event of the day saw the Junior team visit Nile Road Special school where they played a charity match with the Nile Special pupils before heading to Shauri Moyo for a memorable cake cutting ceremony.There, Club Patron Muteshi said: “We are glad as AFC Leopards family to celebrate this day at a very special place.”“This is the place that gave birth to this special team that continues to write history in the country.”Ingwe at 60 chairman, who is also a former Ingwe player, Vincent Shimoli, said the club was going to take a new dimension after the celebration.“We have had this long standing heritage and we intend to take it a notch higher especially after visiting this special place,” he said, urging the club to be self sustainable heading into the future.“We want to be like our brothers Simba and Yanga. The younger generation needs to take the mantle and steer this team to greater heights. We don’t need to be fundraising every time, self reliance is very important in this era,” he added.##NAJAVA_MECA_7950843##Club legend Josphat Murila praised the AFC Leopards hierarchy for organizing the special event that brought together the present, the past and the future.He said: “In my lifetime, I have never witnessed this special occasion. It is very motivational and one that will definitely change the club’s dimension.”Cleopa Motoka, son to the club’s founding father Israel, on the other hand lauded the club Patron for organizing the celebrations at his home saying that that would definitely open ways for the club and bring glory days back home.Ingwe night, legends battle and ladies contest all lined for 60th anniversary“Coming to this home is definitely a blessing. This club will now realize its potential and conquer the continent,” Motoka quipped.The club has lined up a series of activities in the run up to the main celebrations to be held at the Nyayo National Stadium on 24 March 2024.On 16 March, the club will have an Inter-branches football tournament at Camp Toyoyo and Lower Jericho grounds in Jericho Estate, before the finals to be held at Nyayo stadium on the aforementioned main date.
