Sassuolo break Inter’s 28 games unbeaten run

In the top 5 European leagues, only Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan stand out. The German champion is only three games away from being undefeated all season in the Bundesliga, while Inter had only one defeat since the beginning of the season. And tonight, the only club which defeated them did it again – Sassuolo – Inter 1-0. The relegation strugglers became the only club (so far) to defeat the newly promoted Italian champions, also breaking their 28 games unbeaten run, which started just after they defeated them back in September 2023 in Milan (1-2). Armand Lauriente’s rasping first-time strike in the 20th minute gave his team their first win in seven matches and inflicted a first league defeat on Inter since Sassuolo won at the San Siro in late September.🚨GOAL| Armand Laurienté | Sassuolo 1-0 Inter pic.twitter.com/wxbCap4tIL— SimplyGoal (@SimplyGoal) May 4, 2024 Sassuolo’s fate will be decided in the last three rounds, but whatever happens in the upcoming period, it will remain a fact that the Green and Blacks achieved something no one else managed to do once. While a victory in Milan could be justified by the champion’s ‘bad day’ or some other reason, two triumphs are significantly more than a coincidence. The success against the Nerazzurri is an important step for the hosts, but it will only gain significance if Davide Ballardini’s men achieve a positive result away at Genoa in the next round, as well as in the matches against Cagliari and Lazio. At the same time, Inter will approach their matches against Frosinone, Lazio, and Verona without tactical ambitions but with the aim to vent their frustration and return to the track they were on from Sassuolo to Sassuolo.SERIE A – MATCHDAY 35FridayTorino – Bologna 0-0Saturday Monza – Lazio 2-2 (0-1)/Djuric 73, 90+2 – Immobile 11, Vecino 83/Sassuolo – Inter 1-0 (1-0)/Lauriente 20/Sunday 13:30: (2.10) Cagliari (3.45) Lecce (3.90)16:00: (2.45) Empoli (3.35) Frosinone (2.90)16:00: (3.20) Verona (3.40) Fiorentina (2.40)19:00: (1.50) Milan (4.40) Genoa (7.50)21:45: (3.00) Roma (3.15) Juventus (2.65)Monday19:00: (9.00) Salernitana (5.00) Atalanta (1.35)21:45: (3.80) Udinese (3.50) Napoli (2.00)***odds are subject to change***
