‘De Zerbi is a third-tier coach’

Roberto De Zerbi made his name when he took little Sassuolo and made some great results in Serie A. He then moved to Shakhtar Donetsk only to leave the club after one season as war broke in Ukraine. He took over Brighton and had good enough results to be considered (seriously) as the new coach for Bayern Munich and AC Milan. And everybody is OK with that, as he is seen as an innovative, upcoming young manager who will be great in the future. Well, almost everybody. There is one name, a big name in the managerial world, who thinks totally the opposite and even puts De Zerbi into the ‘third tier’ range. ‘De Zerbi is the most influential coach in the last 20 years’Former AC Milan, Juventus, Roma and Real Madrid coach obviously didn’t like De Zerbi being connected with the opening for his beloved AC Milan and was pretty harsh in his assessment of the young colleague. “I would put De Zerbi in the third tier. There is a lot of talk about him as one of the top coaches because Guardiola sponsors him, but this year he is tenth or eleventh in the standings with Brighton. What has he won in his career? Let’s look at his CV: he has only won one cup in Ukraine” he told Sky Sports. 🚨 Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi is still a candidate being considered by Bayern Munich to replace outgoing manager Thomas Tuchel. Up to this moment, however, no one has come forward despite his name being linked to the benches of the big clubs. And then with Brighton he has a clause of 15 million: honestly it seems too much to free a manager” he said last week in Gazzetta dello Sport. The Bavarians are monitoring Roberto De ZerbiManchester City coach Pep Guardiola is very fond of the Italian indeed and every time the Citizens play with Brighton, he is full of compliments for his colleague. “I think Roberto is one of the most influential managers in the last 20 years. There is no team playing the way they play – unique. They deserve the success, and are a team I try to learn from. They are like a Michelin star restaurant, unique. In Catalonia the best cook changed the cuisine, and Brighton are playing with something special and it’s an incredible challenge“ said the Spaniard recently. He was also once quoted by The Telegraph saying ‘That’s the next Man City manager’ to the small audience, nodding in the direction of Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi.##NAJAVA_MECA_8103889##
