A North Carolina man has already made plans for part of the large cash prize he won on a scratchers lottery ticket.
“I’m going to get a new set of irons,” Jack Romans Jr. of Calabash, North Carolina, told WECT-TV.
Romans bought a scratch-off ticket at a convenience store during the North Carolina Education Lottery’s $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe campaign.
“I guess I was just in the right place at the right time,” Romans said. “It’s my birthday in a week. This is a nice early birthday present.”
Romans won one of the five $100,000 prizes and claimed it on Friday. His take-home amount was $71,506 after paying federal and state taxes.
He did say he also planned to pay some bills with his winnings.
The lottery has three $2 million prizes in the scratchers game as well.
