The second men’s major championship of the year has arrived as the game’s best players have made their way to Louisville, Kentucky, for the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.
Ten years ago, Rory McIlroy claimed the Wanamaker Trophy at this historic golf course for his fourth — and most recent — major title. The Northern Irishman is entering this week in good form, winner of his last two starts (Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Wells Fargo Championship). But we’ll talk more about the world No. 2 shortly.
Scottie Scheffler is back after the birth of his first child and hopes to win his fifth event in six starts. Earlier this season, the No. 1-ranked player in the world claimed both the Players Championship and Masters.
Scheffler and McIlroy are joined in the field by defending championship and three-time Wanamaker winner Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, Jordan Spieth — who is a PGA shy from the career Grand Slam —Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa and Viktor Hovland, among others.
