Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwambia has called on Gor Mahia to get ready in time by putting their house in order in preparation for continental football after winning the FKF Premier League on Sunday with their 3-0 win over Muhoroni Youth at St. Sebastian Park, Muranga.Namwamba is wary of the 21 league champions finding themselves in the wrong books of CAF as they did this season, a matter that saw them banned for failing to meet CAF Club Licencing rules. This was after they failed to settle debts owed to former players Adama Keita, Jules Ulimwengu, and Sando Yangayay. “It broke my heart when the team lost its place because of past issues with FIFA, which we tried to help resolve but proved too late. Let’s get ready in time.”For local football stakeholders and Green Army fans, who were eagerly anticipating the opportunity to represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League after winning the league, the ban on K’Ogalo was devastating.Efforts by the Federation, CS for Sports, and his ICT counterpart Eliud Owalo to try and resolve the matter in time proved futile. However, while giving cash rewards to the FKF PL, Women Premier League, Mozzart Cup, and National Super League teams, the ministry of sports added Gor Mahia and the AFC Leopards an additional Ksh. 5 million each to help them settle FIFA sanctions. Gor Mahia has the chance to make amends after winning the league and receiving a congratulatory message from the CS.
