Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya has taken responsibility for his side’s loss and subsequent elimination from the Mozzart Bet Cup after losing to KCB FC in post match penalties of the first semi final that was played on Sunday at Police Sacco Stadium. It was an exciting and entertaining game of football, especially for a neutral person as both teams tried to outclass each other. Kariobangi sharks with their trademark short passes and rotation while KCB on the other hand were good in transitions and utilising their wide players to stretch Sharks ‘ defense and deliver balls in the box.KCB took the lead through Derrick Otanga in the 76th minute but the celebrations were only for a short time as Fortune Omotto equalized for Sharks two minutes later. The match then proceeded to extra time and eventually to penalties now that a winner was not found in regulation time. At this point, Sharks were not able to come back into the game. They lost 2 of their 4 penalties while KCB converted all. Muluya has taken responsibility and revealed that he got his tactics wrong”I take responsibility for the loss. I am to blame. Sometimes you think you’re doing the right things but it’s wrong. Tactically, I got it wrong especially in the second half. I will sit and do a self assessment.”##NAJAVA_MECA_8130799##With Kariobangi sharks majorly consisting of young players, Muluya also felt that the experience of KCB came in handy for them. Mwalala eyeing second Mozzart Bet Cup after leading KCB to historic final”Credit to KCB, they got their tactics right. Even their substitutions worked well. All the players that came in stepped forward to take penalties and all of them converted their kicks. The likes of Ojwang, Nyakwaka and Chetambe are experienced players and I feel being in the industry for a long time came in handy for them.”Muluya decried the substitutions that he made in the second half and feel they weren’t as effective as the ones that came off for them.”Those who came off were doing a good job. Not that those who came on did a bad job but I didn’t expect KCB to counter us.”All is not lost though, Kariobangi Sharks are already in the money category of the Mozzart Bet Cup and will also play AFC Leopards in order to find out who gets declared as the third in command.
